Case Study
Challenge Replace the old, deteriorated outbuilding with a visually appealing new structure that could transparently serve multiple maintenance-related purposes.
Solution Build on the existing foundation and use recycled materials where possible to erect a small “cottage” that is actually a pump house with a concealed woodshed.
Results The old building was an eyesore, but the new one oozes charm from every angle while delivering maximum functionality.
We salvaged the door and windows from an old house and sided the building with shingles left over from a previous project. The back features easy-access hooks for frequently used tools, while the right side accommodates a low-profile compost bin.
From the house, one sees an attractive guest cottage or potting shed—never guessing how hard it’s working.
