Case Study
Challenge
Update this bland 1980s kitchen, incorporating materials that bring interest, color, and fun to the room. Make more efficient use of the kitchen and adjacent dining space by reimagining the intrusive, angled eating bar.
Solution
The clients designed the tile backsplash and chose a blue range and hood to coordinate with it. We installed walnut cabinets on the bottom, painted white cabinets above, and a white quartz countertop with grey and navy veining to lighten up the space. We merged the two windows above the sink to bring in even more light.
We also introduced dark bronze and black accents with the ribbed farm sink, hot water faucet, and upper cabinet hardware.
Result
A fun, slightly folksy feeling characterizes the remodeled kitchen, with brass accents on the hood and range mirroring the brushed brass faucet and cabinet hardware on the walnut. We accommodated the clients’ love of books and games by integrating bookshelves and game storage into the kitchen cabinetry to complete the transformation.
