Case Study

Challenge
Enlarge the tiny shower by getting rid of the large bathtub. Bring this 1980s bathroom into the 21st century, incorporating natural materials that bring a modern “lodge” feel to the space.

Solution
Existing cedar paneling provided a starting point. We complemented this with river rock tile on the floors and up the back of the shower and in the inserts. We coordinated the river rock tile with a ribbed copper tone tile and a large-format gray porcelain field tile to add warmth to the space.

Result
This dated bathroom is transformed with a sleek new feel that invokes the great outdoors—with all the modern conveniences. A heated towel rack and roomy teak bench pamper the shower’s occupant. And a floating vanity with towel storage beneath features an elegant bronze oyster sink with bronze fixtures that blend beautifully with the surrounding tile and wood.

Exterior lights in the shower on either side of the inspirational tile message on the back wall help make this a warm, welcoming space.
