Case Study
Challenge: Reimagine the traditional bathroom design by giving it a personality that better reflects the owners’ultra-contemporary tastes.
Solution: Tear out the existing decor. Introduce a combination of large-format gray tiles across the floor and up the walls to unify the space while making it seem larger. Replace the built-in tub with a modern soaking tub. Scale back the shower slightly to improve tub access and enclose it in a frameless glass partition.
Replace the original cherry vanity with a floating cabinet featuring toekick lighting and storage drawers with an open display in between for towels. Exchange the long mirror panel for textured blue glass tile in random lengths and separate inset medicine cabinets. Redefine the room’s lighting with a chandelier over the tub and pendants above the vanity.
Mount a TV where it can be viewed from the tub, shower, or vanity.
Results: The transformation is complete. The reimagined bathroom presents a sleek, modern look characterized by openness and innovative lighting. The exotic chandelier above the soaking tub adds a stunning architectural element to the space, while the flow from Axor Massaud faucets by Hansgrohe invokes the feeling of an indoor waterfall.
Extreme attention to detail throughout the room—lighting, plumbing fixtures, towel warmer, tile choices, TV—works to pull this contemporary bathroom design together.
