Case Study
Challenge Return the kitchen of this 1956-built home to its roots—the 50s Atomic Age—without repeating them verbatim.
Solution Reference the 50s era by encasing the modern white refrigerator in an aquamarine cabinet. Follow that color scheme through the shelving on either side of the new stainless Viking range.
Results Anchored by the aquamarine color scheme and playful “bubbles” backsplash, the redesigned space comes across as 50s-retro in a modern, fully functional sort of way.
The over-counter shelves conceal countertop lighting and several convenient electrical outlets—providing practicality without visual clutter. Inset-construction cabinets offer minimal embellishment while adding interest to the space and breaking up the conformity.
